Nigeria: ADC Vows to Publish Independently Collated 2027 Election Results

What the report says
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) says it plans to independently collate and publish polling-unit results during Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, framing the move as a lawful exercise of free expression and a way to keep election data public. The party’s statement, reported by Premium Times and distributed by AllAfrica, was issued in Abuja on Thursday through national publicity secretary Bolaji Abdullahi.
According to the report, the ADC said its polling agents would document results, party structures would compile them, and verified figures would be shared with clear identification of their source and status. The party also responded to a warning attributed to the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, over the circulation of privately collated results.
The ADC nevertheless acknowledged that INEC has the legal power to announce official election results and declare winners. It argued, however, that this authority does not prevent parties or citizens from gathering and sharing election information. The report added that Nigeria’s electoral framework allows polling agents to receive copies of polling-unit results, which can be compared with figures announced by election officials.
The article said the party did not explain how it would verify its figures or handle differences with INEC’s records. The issue matters because disputes over result collation and public confidence in election administration have been recurring themes in Nigeria’s electoral politics.
