Nigeria: Adamawa Approves N609.1bn Draft Budget for 2027

Adamawa State’s Executive Council has approved a draft budget of N609.1 billion for the 2027 fiscal year, according to Daily Trust via AllAfrica. The decision was taken at a Friday meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in the state capital, and officials said the plan is centered on infrastructure development and human capital investment.

The proposed spending framework sets 54.4 per cent aside for capital projects and 45.6 per cent for recurrent costs. Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Leader Leneke, said the approval starts the formal process for the 2027 Appropriation Bill. He added that the state will now hold sector consultations and planning discussions before forwarding the final proposal to the House of Assembly.

The council also approved smaller allocations for immediate needs, including N459.5 million for biology teaching materials and 3D laboratory models in 84 secondary schools, and N248.27 million to connect Morawo and Zungalewa communities in Demsa Local Government Area to the national grid. In addition, it endorsed a N16.59 billion virement within the 2026 budget to fund priority work in education, transport and security without raising overall debt.

Officials also warned of possible seasonal flooding and urged residents in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations. The report said emergency relief camps and medical supplies have been prepared, while the government is coordinating with community leaders on drainage clearance and other safety measures.
