What the report says

The Daily Trust, as distributed by AllAfrica, reports that the Obidient Movement Worldwide has pushed back against comments by Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, over the 2027 general election. The movement’s national coordinator, Dr. Moses Paul, also known as Dr Mo, said Wike would not be able to deliver the Federal Capital Territory to the ruling All Progressives Congress in the next presidential contest.

According to the report, the dispute follows Wike’s remarks at a meeting with traders and mechanics in Abuja, where he tied his political future to the outcome of the 2027 vote and said he would resign if President Bola Tinubu lost in the FCT and Rivers State. Paul responded after meeting supporters of Peter Obi, arguing that Wike was overstating his influence in Abuja politics.

Paul, who has contested for office in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, said he knew the FCT better than the minister and claimed Wike had not done enough in the territory. He also criticized threats made by some APC figures toward opposition voters, saying such statements should be treated as criminal incitement. The exchange highlights growing early political tension around Abuja and the wider contest for influence ahead of the 2027 elections.
