Nic Scourton carted off from Panthers practice with apparent knee injury - NBC Sports
What the report says
NBCSports.com’s Pro Football Talk reported that Carolina Panthers outside linebacker Nic Scourton was carted off during the team’s first training camp practice after sustaining what appeared to be a right knee injury. The report, published July 23, 2026, said the injury occurred during 11-on-11 drills, citing multiple reporters who were present at the practice.
According to NBCSports.com, Scourton left the field seated in the front of the cart and appeared emotional as teammates came over to support him. The report did not include a diagnosis or severity, and Panthers head coach Dave Canales was expected to speak with reporters after the practice session.
Scourton is an important piece of Carolina’s defense. NBCSports.com noted that he was selected in the second round the previous year and played all 17 games as a rookie, recording 5.0 sacks, seven tackles for loss and nine quarterback hits. He also logged 68 percent of the Panthers’ defensive snaps in 2025.
The development matters because it came at the very start of training camp, when teams are installing schemes, evaluating depth and preparing players for the regular season. Until the Panthers provide a medical update, the extent of Scourton’s injury and any potential impact on his availability remain unclear.
