NFL.com reported Friday, July 24, 2026, that the Carolina Panthers placed outside linebacker Nic Scourton on season-ending injured reserve after he suffered a torn ACL during Thursday’s practice. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Cameron Wolfe reported the ACL diagnosis, and the move comes at the start of training camp, removing Scourton from Carolina’s plans for the 2026 season.

To add depth at the position, Carolina signed outside linebacker Cam Gill. NFL.com noted that Gill played 10 games for the Panthers in 2024 and recorded 22 tackles. He most recently played for the Louisville Kings and was named the UFL Defensive Player of the Year, giving Carolina an experienced replacement option as camp continues.
