IGN reported that developer BlackJack Studio has released a new trailer for Langrisser: Sea of Sword, offering the first look at gameplay for the upcoming fantasy tactical RPG. According to IGN, Sea of Sword builds on the franchise’s commander-and-troop tactical combat with a new system that lets players field two generals at once, assigning one as commander and the other as lieutenant. Players can combine soldier types from both generals, switch leadership roles during combat, and unlock cooperative skills with certain character pairings. The game also introduces more dynamic battlefields, including terrain effects, elevation, destructible objects, siege situations and routes that can be altered by destroying bridges or walls.

The report says exploration outside combat is also being expanded. Instead of moving only between separate battle maps, players will be able to explore towns, forests, caves and other areas, speak with NPCs, solve environmental puzzles, gather materials and discover hidden events. IGN also notes a territory-development feature in which players can turn an encampment into a stronger military base over time.

The story follows an unnamed protagonist and a white-haired girl named Eta as they travel through an empire divided by rival factions. IGN says composer Yasunori Nishiki, known for Octopath Traveler, is contributing music, alongside a hand-painted anime visual style. Langrisser: Sea of Sword is planned for worldwide release on mobile, Steam and PC, with pre-registration open and Steam wishlisting available; no release date was listed.
