What the report says

Residents in Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba, in Makindye Division, Kampala, told Uganda Radio Network, as republished by The Independent Uganda, that a family stabbing incident that left two children dead and three others injured followed a prolonged marital dispute. Police identified the suspect as Dorothy Namayo, a 43-year-old Kenyan national, who was said to have attacked her children inside the family home on the morning of August 20, 2026.

According to the report, Khadija Daizy, 14, died at the scene, while Hawa Dalena, 7, later died after being taken to Nsambya Hospital. Three other children, aged 13, 8 and 5, survived with injuries and were receiving treatment. The housemaid and neighbors said they heard cries for help, found the home locked, and forced entry after seeing smoke or fire outside and learning the children had been stabbed. Police and local responders then transported the victims to hospital.

The article says the suspected trigger was conflict in the couple’s home after the husband, identified as Ederisa Troy, allegedly took a second wife earlier in the year. Neighbors said the pair had been arguing repeatedly over the issue, though they sometimes reconciled. A local official condemned violence linked to domestic disputes and urged separation or divorce rather than harming children.

Police were still investigating at the time of publication. As background, the story also places the case in a wider context of concern about domestic violence and child safety in the area.
