Nebbi Farmers Receive Farm Inputs Under Climate-Smart Agriculture Project

What the report says
Six farmer groups in Nebbi District have received farm inputs and equipment under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project, a government-backed programme supported by the World Bank. According to Nile Post, the handover took place at the district water office on Tuesday and included wheelbarrows, spray pumps, organic fertilisers, soybean seed, tarpaulins, pruning saws, gumboots, face masks and overalls.
The beneficiary groups are drawn from several sub-counties, including Ndhew, Otwago, Erussi, Acana and Alala. District agricultural officials said the supplies are meant to improve productivity and help smallholders adapt to erratic rainfall and prolonged dry spells that have affected farming in Nebbi and other parts of West Nile. The project supports enterprises such as coffee growing, soybean production, aquaculture, beekeeping and livestock rearing.
Joyce Piwa, the senior agricultural officer and project focal person in Nebbi, said the delivery could revive interest among farmers and improve implementation. The project uses a cost-sharing model in which farmers pay part of the cost of their orders while government covers the rest. A supplier representative said the materials were delivered on time.
District leaders welcomed the inputs and said they had checked the quality of the goods before distribution. The broader project aims to reach more groups across crop production, beekeeping, beef production and fish farming, with the goal of boosting household incomes and encouraging climate-smart agriculture in the district.
