What the report says

KPRC Click2Houston reported that Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. is recalling roughly 1.59 million dozen shell eggs distributed in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana because of possible Salmonella Enteritidis contamination. The recall notice, posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, covers white shell eggs and brown cage-free eggs produced at the company’s Texas farms.

According to KPRC, the affected eggs were shipped from June 6 through July 3, 2026, with carton “sell by” or “best by” dates from July 20 to Aug. 17, 2026. The products were supplied to retail and foodservice customers, including Kroger stores in Texas and Louisiana and Brookshire Grocery stores in multiple states, as well as smaller retailers.

Consumers are being asked to check carton markings. KPRC reported the recall applies to cartons printed with P-1950 or 0840962 and a Julian date between 157 and 184. Midwest Poultry Services advised people not to consume recalled eggs and to return matching cartons to the place of purchase for a full refund. The company said it had not been notified of confirmed illnesses linked to the eggs at the time of the notice.

Salmonella can cause gastrointestinal illness, including fever, cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea, and infections may be more dangerous for young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems. The recall matters because eggs are widely used in homes and foodservice settings, making carton checks important for consumers in the affected states.
