NCBA Bank hands over 50 household water filters to families in Kasenyi landing site

What the report says
NCBA Bank Uganda has donated 50 household water filters to 50 vulnerable families at Kasenyi Landing Site in Kampala, with the support aimed mainly at households in the fishing community. The handover, reported by The Independent Uganda, was presented as part of the bank’s effort to support healthier and more resilient communities.
The initiative was carried out with Vision Child Healthcare and Education Initiative, a local organization that works on healthcare outreach, education, skills development and access to clean water solutions. According to the report, the filters are intended for households that struggle to access safe drinking water.
NCBA’s Head of Strategy and Sustainability, Martin Mwanje, said at the Oct. 1 handover ceremony that the bank sees its role as extending beyond financial services. The report says the filters may also reduce the need for families to boil water using firewood or charcoal, which could lower fuel use and support more sustainable living. Vision Child Health Care Education Outreach Initiative founder Winfred Nannungi said the group focuses on disease prevention awareness, support for vulnerable children, and economic empowerment efforts for women and youth.
The donation fits into broader community health and clean-water efforts in Uganda, where access to safe water remains a challenge in some areas, especially for low-income households.
