NCBA Bank deepens digital banking push

What the report says
The Independent Uganda reported that NCBA Bank Uganda has launched two digital banking platforms as part of a wider push to improve customer experience, business efficiency and financial inclusion. The rollout, held in Kampala on July 23, 2026, introduced NCBA NOW for retail mobile banking and NCBA ConnectPlus for corporates, SMEs and institutions. The launch was conducted at the same time in Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania, aligning with NCBA Group’s regional digital strategy.
According to the report, NCBA NOW allows individual customers to manage accounts, transfer funds, pay bills, buy airtime, monitor transactions, manage cards, repay loans, place fixed deposits, access statements and make cardless withdrawals through the bank’s agent network. It also supports payments to entities such as the Uganda Revenue Authority and the National Social Security Fund. NCBA ConnectPlus is aimed at businesses, offering tools for multiple-account management, domestic and international payments, payroll and supplier transactions, liquidity monitoring, reporting, approval workflows, role-based access and security controls.
NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo said the platforms were developed in response to changing customer expectations and rising demand for convenient, secure and accessible banking. Board chairperson Grace Jethro Kavuma described the investment as part of the bank’s commitment to responsible innovation, governance and trust. The Independent also cited Bank of Uganda supervision executive director Tumubweine Twinemanzi, who welcomed secure digital financial services as important to Uganda’s digital economy.
The development comes as banks across Africa invest more heavily in mobile and internet-based services amid rising smartphone use and demand for faster payments. The report noted NCBA Group’s wider fintech footprint, including LOOP, MoKash, M-Shwari and Fuliza, as context for the bank’s digital expansion.
