What the report says

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni used the 28th Uganda National Prayer Breakfast at State House Entebbe to urge Ugandans to work hard, use their talents and take an active role in national development. Watchdog Uganda reported that the event, organized by Parliament and held on the eve of Uganda’s 64th Independence anniversary, carried the theme “Wake Up, Work Hard, Build Uganda.” Museveni was the chief guest, while Speaker of Parliament Jacob Markson Oboth Oboth hosted the gathering.

According to the report, Museveni said building the country fits with Biblical teaching and linked his message to the parable of the talents, arguing that people should develop what they have been given rather than remain idle. He also revisited earlier views from his student and Scripture Union days, saying he opposed sectarian politics based on tribe and religion and believed faith should support unity and responsibility, not passivity.

The prayer breakfast also included a thanksgiving message from First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni, who gave a testimony about her recovery and thanked God for Uganda’s stability, health response and economic progress. She prayed for national unity, wiser leadership, support for farmers and greater use of irrigation. Speaker Oboth praised the prayer breakfast tradition and said the theme matched Uganda’s push for industrialization, infrastructure, peace and security.

The article said the keynote address was delivered by former Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, and prayers were offered for families, the economy, the nation and world peace.
