Unam FC head coach Robert Nauseb says the Namibian club is treating its CAF Confederation Cup elimination as a learning experience as it shifts attention back to domestic football. The comments follow Unam’s exit against Angolan side Kabuscorp, after a 5-1 aggregate defeat over two legs, including losses in both matches.

According to The Namibian, which AllAfrica distributed, Nauseb said the tie highlighted the demands of continental competition, including quicker transitions, stronger physical play, better set-piece organization and more disciplined game management. He also pointed to mentality as a major takeaway, saying teams must stay competitive over the full duration of both legs. While he accepted the result, he argued that clubs in Namibia need more support if they are to compete regularly in CAF tournaments.

Nauseb said Unam will now refocus on the NFA Premier League and build on the confidence gained from its NFA Cup run. He said the squad may need reinforcements, including a striker, a creative midfielder and additional goalkeeping depth, as well as stronger defensive transitions. The coach also suggested that better preparation, more resources and a more structured local league would help Namibian clubs narrow the gap with more experienced continental sides.

He added that the club’s broader aim is to win the league, qualify for CAF again and eventually reach the group stage, while continuing to rely on support from the University of Namibia and seeking more sponsorship.
