Namibia: MTC Allocates N$624.9m in Expenditure Commitment

What the report says
Mobile Telecommunications Company of Namibia (MTC) has said it will spend N$624.9 million in capital expenditure in the 2025/26 financial year, with the money aimed at expanding network coverage, extending fibre connectivity, upgrading existing infrastructure and speeding up 5G deployment. The announcement was made at the opening of the 25th Ongwediva Annual Trade Fair on Sunday, according to New Era via AllAfrica.
MTC also said it continues to support Namibia’s socio-economic development through digital infrastructure investment, corporate social investment and partnerships. The company said it allocates at least N$1.2 million a year to trade fairs and exhibitions across the country, reflecting a long-running commitment to business and community events.
At the ceremony, MTC chief technical and information officer Monica Nehemia highlighted the company’s more than 20-year association with the Ongwediva Trade Fair. She framed sponsorship as part of national development rather than only branding, and linked digital inclusion to wider economic participation.
The report places the spending plan within Namibia’s broader push for connectivity and enterprise growth. More generally, telecom investment of this kind is often significant in southern African markets because improved networks can affect access to services, business activity and digital participation, though the article itself focuses on MTC’s stated commitments rather than measuring their impact.
