What the report says

Tourism representatives from Jordan and Namibia used Oromia Tourism Week in Addis Ababa to promote stronger travel and business links with Ethiopia, according to the Ethiopian News Agency report distributed by AllAfrica. The event took place from September 29 to October 1 and brought together international and local tourism stakeholders to discuss cooperation and regional growth.

At the gathering, Laura Leader of Discover Jordan said Ethiopia and Jordan share cultural and heritage ties that could support deeper tourism exchanges and partnerships. She pointed to interest from Ethiopian and other African travelers in Jordan, including sites connected to religious history, and said the forum was useful for meeting tourism companies from across Africa.

Sandra N. Shoopala of the Namibia Tourism Board said Namibia’s goal was not only to market the country as a destination, but also to build long-term collaboration with Ethiopian counterparts. She highlighted cultural parallels between Namibian San communities and some Ethiopian traditions as a basis for exchange and said smoother travel procedures could help encourage more visitors in both directions.

The report said both delegations viewed the event as a chance to expand bilateral tourism ties and explore practical cooperation. As a general matter, such forums often serve as networking platforms for tourism boards, operators and investors, though specific agreements were not reported here.
