Namibia: Dangote Promises Cheaper Fuel for Namibia...Launches N$41.6b Pipeline Project in Walvis

What the report says
Nigerian industrialist Aliko Dangote has launched the Dangote Namibia Tank Farm and Regional Pipeline project near Walvis Bay, a development valued at N$41.6 billion, according to New Era via AllAfrica. Dangote said the project is intended to lower fuel supply costs and improve access to petroleum products in Namibia and other landlocked countries in the region.
The planned complex will include a petroleum storage facility with capacity for about 600 million litres, alongside truck-loading and distribution infrastructure. The broader pipeline network is expected to stretch from Walvis Bay toward Otjiwarongo, then north to Rundu and east toward Botswana, with possible reach into neighbouring markets such as Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi and parts of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The final routes still depend on engineering work, surveys and regulatory approvals.
Dangote described the investment as part of a wider African industrialisation strategy and said the project could create business and employment opportunities for Namibian contractors, transport operators, professionals, young people and small firms. President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah welcomed the investment and linked it to earlier talks with Dangote during his 2025 visit to Namibia. The project is being presented as a way to strengthen fuel supply security and position Walvis Bay as a regional energy and logistics hub.
