Nabakooba Launches Shs7.5bn PDM Disbursement in Mityana

What the report says
Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Judith Nabakooba has launched the fourth phase of the Parish Development Model in Mityana District, with Shs7.5 billion set aside for 750 beneficiaries across the district’s subcounties. According to Nile Post, the money is being channelled through parish-based structures and is intended to help households expand income-generating activities and move further into the money economy.
Nabakooba, who also serves as Mityana District Woman MP, told beneficiaries to use the funds for productive ventures rather than routine spending. She stressed that the programme is meant to improve household incomes and support economic activity at parish level, not provide a one-time payout.
She also urged recipients to repay the funds through their parish SACCOs so the revolving scheme can continue helping other eligible residents. The report says she linked repayment to the sustainability of the model, noting that the money should keep circulating within communities.
The Parish Development Model is a government programme designed to support people at grassroots level, especially households moving from subsistence livelihoods to income-producing work. In that context, the launch in Mityana adds to the wider rollout of the scheme, which officials say is intended to strengthen local enterprise and economic inclusion.
