Musicians rally behind Mesach Semakula ahead of 50th birthday concert

What the report says
Ugandan singer Mesach Semakula has received public backing from fellow musicians and entertainment industry figures as he counts down to his “50 Years of Greatness” concert. Sqoop Uganda reported that the show of support came during a press conference held on Thursday at Papaz Spot in Makindye, where artistes, socialites, journalists and sponsors gathered ahead of the November 13 event.
The concert is set for Kingdom Kampala and will also mark Semakula’s 50th birthday. According to Sqoop Uganda, the gathering had a cultural theme, with some guests wearing traditional attire such as gomesis and kanzus. Among those present were Nantume, David Maureen Lutalo, Ronald Mayinja, Karole Kasita and Sophie Gombya, signaling support from different generations of Ugandan music.
Semakula used the occasion to thank fans and colleagues for standing by him throughout his career. He said the concert would be a chance to celebrate with supporters and acknowledged the role they have played in his journey. Karole Kasita described him as an influential artist whose songs have resonated with both younger and older audiences.
Sqoop Uganda also reported that V&A Sherry Brand Manager Angella Mpayenda praised Semakula’s contribution to Uganda’s music industry and said the company was pleased to be associated with the milestone celebration. The buildup to the concert reflects Semakula’s long-running presence in Uganda’s entertainment scene and the broad network of artists rallying around him ahead of the show.
