Museveni to Grace Ntare Lions League Season XVI Finale

What the report says
President Yoweri Museveni is expected to attend the Ntare Lions League Season XVI finale on Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Kasangati, Wakiso District, according to Nile Post. The event will bring together Ntare School alumni, sponsors, sports fans and other members of the Ntare fraternity for football matches, networking and celebrations.
The headline fixture pits defending champions TY Omujuma against Machando FC. Nile Post reports that the two sides finished first and second in the regular season, earning places in the final. The season has been played at several venues, including Kings Park Arena, Maroons Grounds in Luzira and 5D Ranch in Mulawa.
Organisers said the finale will also include a groundbreaking ceremony for a proposed dedicated Ntare Lions League home in the capital. Ntare Lions League president Ferdinand Musimenta Kasheeka described the project as part of a wider effort to build a lasting institution for the Ntare community, while patron Joseph Matsiko said the fraternity helps alumni maintain professional links and contribute to community development.
The league, founded in 2014, has grown from an alumni football competition into a broader social and networking platform. Nile Post said its organisers want it to evolve into a sustainable regional alumni structure, with Ntare graduates spread across Uganda, Rwanda and other parts of East Africa.
