Mumsa High School Launches Music Album and Play to Nurture Students’ Talents

What the report says
Mumsa High School in Mpanga Busundo, Mityana Municipality, has introduced a music album, "Kifumba Mutuku," and a drama production, "Eziga ly’Ekisajja," as part of an effort to encourage student creativity and talent development. According to Nile Post, the launch took place in Kassanda District and drew cultural leaders, government representatives, parents and other guests who watched pupils perform music, drama, dance and related artistic activities.
The school said the initiative is meant to help students identify and develop their abilities while also giving them a break from regular classroom routines through creative work. Joseph Kawuki, who is both the Buganda Kingdom minister for local government and headteacher of Mumsa High School, used the occasion to call on parents to take a stronger interest in their children’s talents and guide them toward productive use of their skills.
Deo Kagimu, the Kabaka’s representative in Ssingo County, and Francis Mitego Ssande, the mayor of Kassanda Town Council, also encouraged parents to support children’s talent growth. Their remarks reflected a broader message at the event: schools, families and community leaders can work together to help young people build confidence, discover strengths and broaden future opportunities. More generally, the launch fits into ongoing discussions in Uganda about balancing academic learning with extracurricular and cultural development.
