Mubende Ready to Host National Primary Schools Ball Games

Mubende District says it is ready to host Uganda’s National Primary Schools Ball Games and Special Needs Education Championship, a 10-day event bringing together young athletes from primary schools across the country. According to Nile Post, district sports officials said the necessary facilities and logistical arrangements are already in place for the competition, which is expected to run through September 4, 2026.

The Uganda Primary Schools Sports Association president, William Bwambale, said the event is meant to promote sports participation among primary school pupils and help identify promising talent at an early age. He also said this is the first time the national primary schools ball games will be hosted in central Uganda, and expressed confidence that Mubende can provide a suitable environment for the championship.

Mubende District Sports Officer Robert Ssaka similarly said preparations had been completed and that the district was prepared to host the tournament smoothly. He said the games would give children a chance to display their abilities while helping officials spot and support talent across different sporting disciplines.

The report adds that Bwambale encouraged parents to support children who take part in sports, saying it can help shape their future. More broadly, primary school sports events in Uganda are often used to develop grassroots talent and provide pathways toward higher levels of competition, including national representation.
