What the report says
Nile Post reported that Mubende Municipality MP Sumayah Nabawanuka has delivered Shs5 million she had pledged to Buweekula FC, giving the side financial support as it prepares for a 2026 Masaza Cup match against Buuli. The fixture is scheduled for Sunday, July 19, 2026, in Nakasongola District, according to the report.
The money was presented to Buweekula’s leadership at a ceremony attended by team officials, supporters and local leaders. Nile Post said team officials described the contribution as timely because it would help address logistical pressures around travel and match preparations. Supporters and officials also portrayed the donation as an encouragement to players and the technical team ahead of the encounter.
Nabawanuka said at the event that she was pleased to meet her earlier commitment and linked the support to youth development through sport. The report also said she commended Buweekula’s leadership for its role in keeping the team competitive and urged players to remain disciplined and committed as they pursue opportunities in football.
Andrew Mukasa Ssempijja, identified by Nile Post as the Kabaka’s Representative for Buweekula, welcomed the donation and appealed to other leaders, business people and well-wishers to support the team. The Masaza Cup is a football competition for teams representing Buganda’s counties and is widely viewed as a platform for community pride and identifying emerging talent.
