What the report says

MTN Uganda has opened a new teacher training centre in Kampala aimed at helping educators build digital skills and learn how to use artificial intelligence tools in the classroom. According to The Independent Uganda, the MTN Teachers’ Resource Centre was established through the MTN Foundation in partnership with Burn Radio Ltd and is intended to support lesson preparation, classroom technology use and implementation of Uganda’s curriculum.

The launch took place on October 22 and was paired with the graduation of 102 teachers who completed the International Certification of Digital Literacy. MTN Uganda said the centre is part of its wider Bridging the Digital Divide Programme and reflects a shift from providing connectivity alone to also building the skills needed to use digital tools effectively.

The facility will offer both online and offline learning resources. The company said it will also help parents better understand the national curriculum and support children’s learning at home, including in areas with limited internet access.

Government and education officials at the launch welcomed the initiative as a private-sector contribution to improving teaching standards. The Independent also noted that the project builds on MTN Foundation education and ICT programmes dating back to 2012 and fits into Uganda’s broader push for digital learning and skills development.
