MTN Graduates 407 Youth, Women in Digital Skills Programme in Northern Uganda

What the report says
MTN Uganda Foundation has graduated 407 young people and women from a digital and financial literacy programme in northern Uganda, according to Nile Post. The trainees came from Pader and Lamwo districts and completed a three-week course delivered through the MTN Internet Bus, a mobile computer lab that brings equipment, internet access and trainers to underserved areas.
The ceremony took place on October 8 at Angagura Sub-county headquarters in Pader District. The programme was the second graduation under the sixth phase of MTN’s Digital Literacy Programme, carried out with Maendeleo Foundation. It focused on practical topics including computer use, online safety, artificial intelligence, financial literacy and safe use of digital financial services.
MTN said the initiative is intended to help reduce barriers such as distance, cost and limited access to devices and training. The company also said more than 7,000 people have been trained through the Internet Bus since 2022, with a high completion rate. During the event, four top trainees received devices to support further learning, including a laptop, tablet, smartphone and MiFi unit.
The graduation came with broader messaging about Uganda’s push for economic transformation and the growing need for digital skills in the workforce. Participants said the training improved their ability to use computers, search for information and manage money, while MTN encouraged them to continue learning through its online skills platforms.
