Mozambique: Mozambique LNG Already Trained 100 SMEs in Cabo Delgado

What the report says
French oil and gas company TotalEnergies, which leads the Mozambique LNG consortium in Palma district, Cabo Delgado province, says it has trained 100 small and medium-sized enterprises there through its CapacitaMoz business development programme. The latest round, described as the programme’s fourth cycle, included 25 SMEs from construction, transport and logistics, along with coaching in management, finance, human resources, marketing, quality control, and health, safety and environmental practices.
According to the report from Agencia de Informacao de Mocambique and carried by AllAfrica, Cabo Delgado Governor Valige Tauabo welcomed efforts to strengthen local firms so they can better compete for work linked to major projects in the province. A TotalEnergies local content manager, Edna Simbine, said the programme has improved participants’ organisation, management and competitiveness.
The article says the initiative is part of a broader push to expand local participation in the LNG project’s supply chain. Beyond the 100 companies trained under CapacitaMoz, another 267 SMEs in Cabo Delgado have received technical assistance, certification support or start-up help. It also says 17 of the 100 trained firms have already entered the Mozambique LNG supply chain directly or indirectly, bringing the total number of local companies involved after training to 40. The Mozambique LNG project is planned as a large offshore gas development, and the training effort reflects the wider focus on local content and business capacity in Cabo Delgado.
