Movit Foundation builds classroom block in Bunyangabu, skills 78 in new brick technology

Movit Foundation has handed over a five-classroom block at Kadindimo Primary School in Bunyangabu District, western Uganda, as part of an education infrastructure project that also provided local jobs and construction training. The Independent Uganda reported that more than 78 residents took part in the work and gained practical experience in specialised interlocking brick technology while the school facility was being built.

The project included 70 desks, tree planting, external civil works and landscaping, alongside the classrooms themselves. According to the report, interlocking stabilised bricks were produced on site using a Makiga brick-making machine supplied by the foundation, which reduced transport needs and kept materials flowing during construction. The work was completed despite heavy rainfall, supply-chain interruptions and rising input costs, with the team adjusting schedules and sourcing to finish the building to the required standards.

Movit Foundation Board Chairman Dr Bruce Mpamizo said the organisation wanted its social investment to create lasting value beyond the physical structure, including community skills that could be used in future projects. Guest of Honour Minister Balaam Barugahara said private-sector support for education and livelihoods can complement government development goals. More broadly, the project reflects a common approach to corporate social investment in Uganda: combining school infrastructure with local participation and skills transfer.
