Moses Matovu remanded until November 3

Vincent Arnold Nsamba, also known as Sitenda, has been charged with murder over the death of veteran Ugandan musician Moses Matovu and remanded to Luzira Upper Prison until November 3, according to Nile Post. Nsamba appeared before the Makindye Chief Magistrate’s Court, where the charge was read to him by Senior Grade One Magistrate Aidah Nanjala. Because murder is a capital offence, the magistrate did not take a plea and instead informed Nsamba that he can apply for bail in the High Court.

The prosecution alleges that Nsamba, a 47-year-old driver from Kibuli, caused the death of the 77-year-old Matovu with malice aforethought on September 24, 2026, in Market “B” Zone, Kibuli, Makindye Division, Kampala. Court was told that investigations are still ongoing. Nsamba said he understood the charge, while the magistrate cautioned him against making further statements.

Nile Post reported that police believe Matovu was attacked around 5:30 a.m. as he was leaving the home of a woman identified as Rose Tumusiime in Kibuli. Preliminary findings cited by police suggest an earlier confrontation took place after Matovu and Tumusiime were allegedly confronted by Nsamba, who investigators say had previously been in a relationship with Tumusiime. Matovu was said to have been injured during the struggle, taken to Kibuli Hospital by a boda boda rider, and later died while receiving treatment.

The case matters because it involves the death of a well-known musician and an investigation that remains incomplete. Tumusiime was also reportedly arrested and taken to court, but her file was not yet ready for prosecution.
