Moses Ali Eulogised as Peacemaker, Brave Soldier at Final Dua

Religious leaders, politicians, family members and mourners gathered in Adjumani Town Council for the final Dua prayers and regional memorial ceremony for former Second Deputy Prime Minister Gen. Moses Ali. According to Nile Post, the event at Paridi Stadium marked 40 days since his death and brought together attendees from West Nile and beyond under the organisation of Taqwa Mosque Islamic Center Adjumani and the Madi Muslim District Council.

Speakers described the late general as a peacemaker, brave soldier and principled politician whose public life was linked to military service, politics, community mobilisation and development. An official condolence message from President Yoweri Museveni, read by Minister of State for Defence and Veteran Affairs Huda Abason Oleru, praised Ali’s contribution to Uganda and included a Shs10 million contribution toward the prayers. The President also used the occasion to encourage commercial farming, referencing Ali’s own agricultural work as an example of wealth creation.

West Nile Parliamentary Caucus chair Hassan Kaps Fungaroo and Minister of State for Cooperatives Tom Aleru Aza said Ali’s legacy should guide current and future leaders. The family, represented by his son Ismail Musa Ali, thanked the government for the state burial and said the tribute reflected the respect he earned through years of service. Nile Post reported that Ali died on July 18, 2026, aged 87, and had long represented Adjumani West in Parliament. His death left the seat vacant, with a by-election set for September 18, 2026.
