What the report says

Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca has reportedly made an official bid of about $700,000, or Shs2.6 billion, for Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello, according to Nile Post. The Tanzanian champions Young Africans, who currently hold Okello’s registration, are said to want about $1 million, roughly Shs3.8 billion, before allowing the player to leave. The gap in valuation has set up a potential transfer standoff.

The report says Young Africans plan to consider the offer after their Kariakoo Derby against Simba. Okello, 26, has become an important attacking player for Yanga since arriving from Vipers in January 2026, helping them in their 2025/26 title defence. The story also notes that Wydad’s offer would be well above the fee Yanga reportedly paid for him, when they signed him from Vipers for about $300,000.

Okello’s career has included spells at KCCA, Algeria’s Paradou, a loan return to KCCA, and then Vipers, where he rebuilt his form and won domestic honours. His strongest recent season came with Vipers in 2024/25, when he reportedly scored 19 league goals. The potential move matters because it would be another major transfer for one of Uganda’s leading midfielders and could increase attention on Ugandan players in regional and North African football.
