‘Morning Show’ to End With Season 5 at Apple TV - Variety

Variety reported that Apple TV’s drama “The Morning Show” will conclude with its upcoming fifth season, which is expected to premiere in 2027. The decision closes one of the streamer’s earliest scripted franchises: Apple ordered the series in 2017, before Apple TV launched, with Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon already attached as leads.

The series, produced by Media Res for Apple TV, follows the power struggles and ethical conflicts around a fictional broadcast news operation. Aniston and Witherspoon both star and executive produce, alongside a producing team that includes Michael Ellenberg, Mimi Leder, Charlotte Stoudt, Kristin Hahn, Lauren Neustadter, Zander Lehmann and Micah Schraft. Stoudt is showrunner and Leder is a director and executive producer. Variety listed returning cast members including Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass, Nestor Carbonell, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie and Jon Hamm, with Season 5 additions such as Jeff Daniels, Reneé Rapp, Jesse Williams, Sean Hayes and Lizzy Caplan.

Apple executives Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht framed the show as a signature title that helped establish Apple TV’s original programming slate. Aniston, Witherspoon, Ellenberg, Stoudt and Leder said in statements that knowing Season 5 would be the end allowed the creative team to shape a deliberate conclusion.

Variety noted that Season 4 launched in September 2025 and was set after the UBA-NBN merger, with themes including disinformation, corporate secrecy and trust in media. The show has also been a regular awards contender, receiving 28 Emmy nominations and four wins to date, including two supporting actor wins for Crudup.
