The Nanterre prosecutor’s office confirmed to the BBC that Siad was discovered on Monday.

According to the prosecutor’s office, authorities opened an investigation on Monday evening to establish the cause of death, and an autopsy is expected. The BBC report did not state a suspected cause, and no official conclusion has been announced.

Siad had been linked in public reporting to Epstein, the late convicted sex offender, through US government-released Epstein files in which the BBC said his name appeared thousands of times. The broadcaster also noted that Siad had previously denied knowing that Epstein posed a danger. Before a BBC investigation published on 18 July, Siad’s lawyer said he was not available for comment.

The development is notable because Siad had been referenced in accounts surrounding Epstein’s abuse network. The BBC reported that an Epstein victim, identified by the pseudonym Anya, had previously said Siad introduced her to Epstein. That allegation remains part of the broader public scrutiny of people connected to Epstein, whose case continues to generate legal, media and political attention years after his death.
