Mitchelle Daka was crowned the first-ever Miss Universe Uganda at a grand finale held on Saturday night, August 1, at Kampala’s Imperial Royale Hotel, according to Sqoop Uganda. The event marked Uganda’s formal entry into the Miss Universe franchise and was presented as a major moment for the country’s pageant scene. The competition featured 16 finalists, with the announcement made onstage by the hosts and the sealed result delivered through the pageant’s national director, Joram Muzira.

Sqoop Uganda described the night as a polished showcase of fashion and performance, with guests, former beauty queens and supporters in attendance. The program also included live entertainment from Ugandan performers Maurice Kirya, Lilian Mbabazi, Tracy Melon, Minister Rachel K and Valentino Kabenge, alongside a runway-style presentation by the contestants. Muzira thanked sponsors and partners, saying the launch of the competition was made possible through collaboration.

Along with the crown, Daka received a prize package that included cash, a vehicle and sponsor hampers, while several other finalists were recognized with special awards and placements. Kimberly Jael Aremo finished as first runner-up, Bridget Katungi as second runner-up, and Sureya Umeima as third runner-up. The pageant also sent selected contestants to other international competitions. More broadly, the result gives Uganda a new representative for the global Miss Universe stage and adds a fresh chapter to the country’s beauty pageant industry.
