Mitchelle Daka begins historic journey to Miss Universe

What the report says
Mitchelle Daka, Uganda’s newly crowned Miss Universe Uganda, has started preparing for her international debut with a visit to Uganda Breweries Limited’s headquarters in Luzira. Sqoop Uganda reported that she attended the event with first runner-up Kimberly Jael Aremo and Top Supermodel Teopista Aromach, in a gathering hosted by V&A Sherry, the brand that has named Daka its Face of V&A 2026.
The visit gave the pageant winners a chance to tour the brewery, meet company leaders and see where V&A Sherry is made. The brand said the event was meant to celebrate the contestants’ achievements after the inaugural Miss Universe Uganda competition and to show support for their upcoming pageant journeys. Company representatives also linked the partnership to women’s empowerment and to V&A’s idea that shared milestones become more meaningful.
Daka’s win is being described as a historic moment for Ugandan pageantry because she is set to become the first Ugandan contestant in the Miss Universe competition’s 75-year history. According to Sqoop Uganda, she will represent the country in Puerto Rico in November. The article also noted that V&A Sherry had backed her before the final and that the partnership now carries added significance as she prepares to carry Uganda’s flag abroad.
