Miss Uganda finalists trade pageant glamour for Talent Night

The Miss Uganda 2026 competition moved beyond the usual pageant format on Friday night when all 22 finalists took part in a Talent Night at Arirang Hotel in Kampala, according to Sqoop Uganda. The event, hosted by the Miss Uganda Foundation with V&A Sherry as a partner, gave the contestants a platform to present skills in music, dance, poetry, drama, fashion and visual art.

The finalists performed a mix of traditional and contemporary pieces. Dance was especially prominent, with contestants presenting cultural routines and modern styles, while others sang, recited poetry or staged short dramatic pieces. Several entries focused on social themes such as empowerment, beauty, education and domestic violence. The night also included fashion and art displays, and some contestants shared MC duties during the show.

Sqoop Uganda reported that the audience was encouraged to keep voting in the popularity category, with the winner set to gain an automatic place in the top five at the grand finale. The Talent Night winner will be named Miss Talent at the final event. The Miss Uganda 2026/2027 crown is due to be awarded at the grand finale on October 10 at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. In broader context, talent segments are a common part of beauty pageants and are often used to showcase contestants’ public speaking, performance and advocacy skills.
