Middleton-Patel joins Watford on loan from Man Utd

What the report says
Wales goalkeeper Safia Middleton-Patel has returned to Watford on a season-long loan from Manchester United, according to BBC Sport Football. The move covers the 2026-27 campaign and gives the 21-year-old another spell with the Hornets after a previous half-season loan there in 2023-24.
Middleton-Patel joined Manchester United as a senior player and made her first-team debut in December 2024 against Newcastle United. BBC Sport says she made three appearances for United last season, including in a Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford. United said they will monitor her progress and wished her well in the loan move.
The goalkeeper has also spent time on loan at Blackburn Rovers, Leicester City and Coventry United. For Wales, she has already earned 12 caps and played in five of six group matches in World Cup qualifying earlier this year, underlining her growing role at international level.
Her move to Watford keeps her in Women’s Super League 2, where regular playing time could help both her club form and her competition for the Wales No. 1 shirt. BBC Sport added that Wales face Albania in October in the first round of the Euro 2025 play-offs, with the winner to meet either Romania or Norway.
