Microsoft 365 outage affects Teams, SharePoint and other services - BleepingComputer

What the report says

BleepingComputer reported that a Microsoft 365 disruption on July 23 affected Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive and several other cloud services, with the impact concentrated on users in North America. The article, by Mayank Parmar, said the incident began at 10:44 a.m. ET and was later marked resolved after Microsoft rolled back a networking change.

According to the report, Downdetector showed 2,403 reports at 11:11 a.m. ET, far above its usual baseline of 29. SharePoint represented most of the complaints, followed by Excel and the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Microsoft told customers it was investigating and directed administrators to incident MO1437424 in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center.

The affected services included intermittent OneDrive access, SharePoint Online errors, degraded Teams chat features including image-loading problems, slow or unavailable Microsoft 365 Admin Center access, Power Automate flow-loading failures, Copilot Chat delays or failures, and Loop pages not opening. Microsoft said the problems were tied to certain network paths and initially tried rerouting traffic, which produced partial recovery for some users but did not immediately restore service for everyone.

BleepingComputer said Microsoft later indicated it had likely found the cause and was deploying mitigations. In an evening update, Microsoft said it had completed reverting the network update and confirmed through telemetry and customer reports that the incident was resolved. The outage mattered because Microsoft 365 services are widely used for workplace collaboration, administration and automation, so disruptions can affect communications and business operations across many organizations.
