What the report says

Michael Jordan’s game-worn, autographed Chicago Bulls jersey from Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold in a private sale for a record $14 million, according to Hunt Auctions, as reported by Al Jazeera on 13 October 2026. The buyer was identified as Miami real estate investor Ron Firman. The auction house said the shirt is now the most expensive piece of basketball memorabilia ever sold and the second-highest sale overall among game-worn sports jerseys.

The jersey comes from the final championship run of Jordan’s Chicago career, when the Bulls defeated the Utah Jazz in six games to win the title. Al Jazeera reported that the Game 2 matchup in Salt Lake City helped Chicago level the series, and Jordan’s performance in that game was a key part of his sixth and final NBA Finals MVP season. The jersey was originally sold by the Bulls to a private collector in 2003 and had changed hands only once before the latest transaction, according to Hunt Auctions.

The sale adds to a growing market for Jordan items from the “Last Dance” era. Al Jazeera noted that at least two other jerseys from the same 1998 Finals have previously fetched more than $10 million, and a pair of Jordan’s sneakers from that series sold for $2.2 million in 2023. More broadly, the report places Jordan’s memorabilia among the highest-value sports collectibles, alongside historic items such as Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series jersey.
