Citing The Athletic, MLBTR said scouts from at least seven clubs — the Rays, Phillies, Rangers, Diamondbacks, White Sox, Dodgers and Yankees — watched Holmes pitch against High-A Dunedin. Executives from other teams reportedly viewed him as major league-ready after he worked scoreless baseball with a heavy ground-ball profile.

Holmes has been out for more than two months because of a fractured fibula suffered on a comebacker. MLBTR noted that he is in the second season of a three-year, $38 million deal, though the final year is a player option. Because he has pitched well since moving from a relief role with the Yankees to a starting role with the Mets, the site assessed that New York may be better served trading him than relying on possible draft-pick compensation if he later declines the option.

The article also said Freddy Peralta remains a trade candidate.
