Teenage brothers Olly and Seb Fisher, who play for Partick Thistle, are moving closer to international football with Uganda rather than Scotland, according to BBC Sport Football. The pair say they believe they could become the first white players to represent Uganda, through their mother Kate, who was born there. Their family connection to Uganda also includes grandparents who lived and worked there before their mother was born.

BBC Sport reports that interest from Uganda emerged around six months ago after a conversation involving their father and a football consultant at a match in Nigeria. In early August, the brothers were invited to under-20 and under-17 training camps and spent last week in Jinja, in eastern Uganda. Olly, 18, is a goalkeeper, while 16-year-old Seb is a striker. Both described the call-up as a surprise and said they felt honoured to be included.

The article says Uganda under-20 coach Laryea Kingston, a former Hearts player, told the brothers their selection would be historic. The siblings said they have been welcomed by teammates and have enjoyed learning more about their family’s background through the trip. They are expected to return to Scotland soon to continue combining football with school and university, but hope to rejoin Uganda’s age-group squads if selected again. BBC Sport says the move could lead to involvement in the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations or the Under-17 World Cup, if those teams qualify.
