Medication switch behind Musiala collapses - Bayern

What the report says
Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany says a small change to Jamal Musiala’s medication contributed to the midfielder collapsing in two recent pre-season matches. Musiala had gone down during games against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim over a four-day span, prompting concern before Bayern’s German Supercup meeting with Borussia Dortmund.
BBC Sport reported that the 23-year-old has since said he is being treated for a neurological dysfunction that can cause brief, treatable seizures. Bayern had previously said they were aware of signs of the condition before the World Cup and before last season began, but had not seen it affect him on the pitch. Kompany said Musiala had given permission for the medication change to be mentioned and that the club had taken advice from leading specialists.
The article also quoted Bayern sporting director Max Eberl, who said the club has been fully supportive and that players were already aware of the issue during last season. Kompany said Musiala would miss the Supercup opener and train individually for the rest of the week as Bayern prepare to start their Bundesliga title defence against Stuttgart.
BBC Sport added background on absence seizures, noting they can be managed with treatment and do not necessarily prevent athletes from competing.
