Matos rues QPR display as Swansea suffer Yeo blow

What the report says
Swansea City head coach Vitor Matos said his side need to “listen” to their display after a heavy 5-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers, which was the worst loss of his time in charge. Richard Kone scored a first-half hat-trick inside 15 minutes as QPR punished a Swansea team that had started the season strongly and remained in the Championship’s automatic promotion places despite the setback.
Matos took responsibility for the result and said Swansea must learn from the performance, especially after a match in which he felt his team were short on concentration and organisation at key moments. He said QPR began with more energy and were clinical in front of goal, while Swansea could not recover once the home side had seized control. The defeat was Swansea’s second in a row and only their third league loss of the season.
BBC Sport Wales reported that the result was Swansea’s heaviest league defeat since a 5-0 loss at Southampton in December 2023, and the club’s biggest setback under Matos so far. QPR also scored through centre-back Jimmy Dunne, whose two set-piece goals added to Kone’s treble.
Matos also confirmed a further injury concern, with winger Moussa Yeo set to miss around two to three weeks after a hamstring problem. That comes after Ronald was ruled out for up to eight weeks with a similar injury, although teenage loanee Jeremy Monga was included in the matchday squad for the first time.
