Masaka Leaders Boost Buddu with Cash After Masaza Cup Victory

Nile Post reported that political leaders from the Greater Masaka region have given financial support to Buddu County after the team beat Busujju 2-1 in the Masaza Cup. The leaders said the result had strengthened belief in Buddu’s chances of competing for this year’s title and urged fans, well-wishers and the business community to remain involved as the campaign continues.

According to the report, Nyendo–Mukungwe MP Javira Ssebina Lubowa contributed Shs4 million, while Kalungu East MP Yusuf Nkeretanyi gave Shs5 million to support the team’s preparations for upcoming fixtures. The leaders framed Buddu as a shared identity for people in Greater Masaka and said the team would need broad financial, moral and matchday support to sustain its push in the competition.

Buddu team manager Jude Muleke welcomed the donations, saying they had arrived at an important point in the tournament. He said the backing would encourage both players and the technical team, and called for more assistance from leaders, businesses and supporters to help cover needs such as training, transport and player welfare.

The Masaza Cup is a prominent county football tournament associated with Buganda’s traditional counties, and it often draws strong local loyalty and political attention. Nile Post reported that Buddu’s win over Busujju has raised optimism among supporters that the county can mount a serious challenge for the trophy, though the team’s prospects will depend on results in its remaining fixtures.
