Marco Bezzecchi wins in Indonesia as Martin takes MotoGP lead

What the report says
Marco Bezzecchi won the Indonesian Grand Prix at the Mandalika International Circuit on Sunday, giving Aprilia a strong result and keeping his slim MotoGP title hopes alive, according to Al Jazeera’s report of AFP coverage. The Italian moved past pole-sitter Raul Fernandez late in the 27-lap race and pulled away to win by 4.26 seconds. Fernandez, who was dealing with two fractured fingers from Saturday’s sprint, held on for second.
Jorge Martin finished third on another Aprilia, a result that was enough to move him back to the top of the championship standings. Al Jazeera reported that Martin now leads Marc Marquez by two points, 355 to 353, with five race weekends left. Marquez, the reigning seven-time world champion, finished sixth in Indonesia after winning the sprint race the day before.
The outcome tightened an already close title fight while also marking a milestone for Italian motorcycling: Bezzecchi’s victory was described as the 300th MotoGP win by an Italian rider. Bezzecchi said the result mattered to him and his team after a difficult period, while Martin said he had done all he could after recovering positions during the race. More broadly, the result underscored how little margin remains in the championship as the season heads toward its final rounds.
