What the report says

Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw at Leeds on Sunday in a Premier League match that left manager Michael Carrick under continued pressure. The result came after a difficult stretch for United, who had managed only two wins in nine games across all competitions before the trip to Elland Road. Al Jazeera reported that the draw did little to ease concerns around the club after a turbulent week.

United took the lead in the 35th minute through Bryan Mbeumo, who finished from a low cross to score his fourth league goal of the season. Leeds responded after the interval, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin equalising in the 51st minute after a corner sequence. Both sides had chances in a physical contest, but neither could find a winner despite late attacking changes from Carrick, including the introduction of Mason Mount and Matheus Cunha.

The match also followed renewed scrutiny of United after defender Lisandro Martinez criticized the club’s leadership following a midweek Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. Carrick said before the match that the situation had moved on, and Martinez started before being substituted at half-time. The point left Manchester United 13th in the table, while Leeds remained seventh, according to the report.
