Manchester United are set to appoint Eva Olid as their new women’s manager, according to BBC Sport. The Spanish coach, who is 40, is expected to meet the squad on Wednesday as the club finalise the move. She would replace Marc Skinner, who left by mutual consent on Monday, just before the new Women’s Super League season begins.

BBC Sport reports that Olid arrives after leaving Hearts this summer. She spent four years in charge of the Scottish club and guided them to their first Scottish Women’s Premier League title last season, finishing two points ahead of Rangers. She also led Hearts to their first domestic final, although they lost the 2024 Scottish Cup final.

Skinner spent five years at United and oversaw some significant milestones, including the club’s first major trophy in the women’s team’s history when they won the Women’s FA Cup in 2024. United also reached the Women’s Champions League group stage for the first time last year. His departure came amid questions about squad investment and after a relatively quiet summer in the transfer market.

The reported appointment suggests United want a coach with a background in player development as they reshape the squad for a longer-term plan. United open their WSL campaign at London City Lionesses on 4 September.
