Man completes 2,800 mile scoot across Australia

What the report says
Bob Brown, a man from Saltash in Cornwall, has completed a non-electric scooter journey across Australia, traveling from Perth on the west coast to Sydney on the east. BBC World News reported that he began the challenge in July and finished on Monday after covering about 2,800 miles, or 4,506 km.
Brown said he was aiming to set two Guinness World Records: one for the fastest crossing of Australia by kick scooter and another for becoming the first person to cross the country using three different methods — running, cycling and scootering. The BBC said he had previously run across Australia in 2001 and cycled the route in 2003, making this latest attempt part of a long-running series of endurance challenges.
He linked the trip to fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support, St Luke’s Hospice and Children’s Hospice South West, with a target of £5,000, and said he wanted to encourage young people to spend less time on screens and more time seeking adventure. Brown also described injuries during the trip, including a collision early on and a fall near the end when his handlebars broke, but he still completed the crossing in 31 days, four hours and 10 minutes.
Brown has submitted documentation to Guinness World Records and said he is waiting to learn whether the achievements will be officially recognized.
