Roberto Mancini has dismissed questions about an alleged “double contract” linked to his time as Manchester City manager, saying it is not his concern. Mancini made the comments in Italy while answering a question ahead of Italy’s Nations League match against Turkey, following news that Manchester City had been found guilty on most of the financial-rule charges brought by the Premier League.

The BBC reports that the charges included claims about inaccurate details for player and manager payments over a period that covered Mancini’s spell at City from December 2009 to May 2013. During that time, he won the FA Cup in 2011 and helped deliver the club’s first top-flight title in 44 years in 2012. Mancini said the matter had been discussed for years and stressed that any alleged contract issue was for the club to deal with.

According to the BBC, German outlet Der Spiegel had previously alleged that City paid part of Mancini’s compensation through a consultancy arrangement tied to Abu Dhabi club Al Jazira. City has said the broader Premier League process is still ongoing, while sanctions from the independent commission have yet to be set. The case matters because it is part of a wider and highly significant challenge to City’s financial conduct, with possible implications for the club and potentially for other Premier League sides.
