Manchester City chief executive Ferran Soriano has reportedly taken a defiant stance in the wake of the club being found guilty of the vast majority of Premier League charges against it. According to BBC Sport, Soriano made the remarks at a European Football Clubs board meeting in Copenhagen ahead of the group’s general assembly on Tuesday.

The case centres on allegations that City inflated sponsorship income linked to connected companies and made other payments off the books to get around financial rules. BBC Sport reported that Soriano said the club would fight the charges and that the process was far from over, echoing comments made by chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak in a letter to supporters.

The Premier League announced on Friday that City had been found guilty on most of the 115 charges brought against them. Sanctions have not yet been announced, but possible outcomes could range from a fine to a points deduction or, in a more severe scenario, expulsion from the top division.
