What the report says

Police in Kyankwanzi District are investigating the death of a 34-year-old woman, Nyiramuhirwe Kolodina, who was allegedly hacked and stabbed to death by her husband after what officers described as domestic disagreements. The incident, according to Nile Post, happened on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Kalungu LC1 in Kigando Sub-county, where the couple lived with their nine-month-old baby.

Wamala Region police spokesperson SSP Lameck Kigozi said early inquiries suggest the couple had been experiencing marital conflict before the killing. Police said the suspect, Nshimimana Emmanuel, allegedly kept the body inside their rented room after the attack and did not immediately alert neighbors or local leaders. Around 1 a.m. on Saturday, August 8, he reportedly took the child to a nearby woman and later went to police, where he said his wife had suddenly fallen ill.

A homicide team then visited the scene and found Kolodina’s body with serious injuries, including a deep neck wound and cuts to the head and hands. Investigators also said they recovered a blood-stained knife, panga and hammer from a pit latrine nearby. Those items have been taken for examination as police continue interviews and evidence collection.

Nshimimana has been arrested and remains in custody. The case has renewed concern about domestic violence in the area, and police are urging people in family disputes to seek peaceful and lawful help before conflicts turn deadly.
