Makerere Muslim Students Seek Strategic Partnership with Salam TV and Salam Charity

Muslim student leaders from Makerere University have opened discussions with Salam TV and Salam Charity on a possible partnership focused on religious outreach, humanitarian work and leadership development. According to Nile Post, the meeting took place at Next Media Uganda in Kampala and included a tour of the media house for the visiting delegation.

The delegation was received by Salam TV Managing Director Hajj Karim Kaliisa and Digital Manager Immam Sadiq Taremwa. The talks explored areas of cooperation such as promoting daawa, expanding charity initiatives and strengthening the leadership capacity of Muslim students. Kaliisa urged the students to be inclusive and to make sure Muslim students from different regions are represented, while also encouraging them to balance faith with academic commitment.

Mariam Lubwaama, chairlady of the Muslim student leaders at Makerere University, praised Salam TV and Salam Charity for programmes she said have supported daawa and community development. Sadat Bwanika, chairperson of the Makerere University Muslim Students Association, also welcomed the engagement and proposed a formal partnership to support the social and economic empowerment of Muslim youth at Makerere and beyond.

Nile Post said the visit could lead to joint programmes in media training, community outreach and student leadership development in the coming months.
